ペンを使って、うすいスチレンボードの上にカベの設計図を書きこもう（こわれたカベ、レッジ、表面のもようなど）。レッジの高さとレッジの足場の広さについては、じっくり考えてから、しっかりと設計図に書きこもう。カベやレッジの横はばをどれだけ長くするかは、君しだいだ。

うすいスチレンボードの上に、ペンでベースの形を書いていこう。もちろん、ベースの大きさはカベやレッジがじゅうぶん入るだけのものにすること。

ホビーナイフを使って、切り取り線どおりスチレンボードに切り込みを入れよう。この切り込みにそってシートを曲げれば、カンタンにベースをスチレンボードから切りはなせるぞ。

発泡スチロールの角材をカットして、高さ２cm×奥ゆき３cmくらいの土台を作ろう。それから木工用ボンドを使って、スチレンボードで作ったレッジの足場を土台の上にはりつけてくれ。あとからカベをはりつけることになるので、レッジの足場と土台の後ろがまっすぐそろうように注意しよう。ちなみにこの作例では、レッジの足場が土台の先にちょっとだけハミ出すように作っているぞ。ボンドがしっかり乾いたら、次のステップに進もう。
